Hello everyone.
HIMO C26 MAX Commuter owns an electric road bike, but the nylon clutch/planetary gear is worn out and no longer used.
Since the rear wheel has already been spoken and changed rim, we are trying to replace the gear.
It is very unwilling to dispose of a good bicycle. I hope you have some advice.
I emailed a British distributor, but it is an understatement to say that they showed no interest at all.
Clutch Part Number: dgwh2 202008 0584
Tooth wear is intense, it is difficult to determine whether 30 or 31 teeth gear
Count the number of gears in the inner, outer, and planetary gears. These are related by the official. If you know two of them, you can calculate the third.
It’s almost impossible to help without pictures
In that case, the best advice I can offer is to look for a clutch with the part number “dgwh2 202008 0584.”
That’s frustrating — the nylon gears are often the weak point on these hub motors. I’ve seen replacements for HIMO and similar motors pop up on AliExpress and eBay. Try searching the part number with “nylon gear” or “planetary gear” — usually sold as a set of three.
I had to replace a worn planetary gear on my own commuter (not HIMO, but same issue). Ended up ordering a generic Bafang-compatible gear kit, and it fit after a bit of filing. Might be worth checking if your motor shares dimensions with one of the common Bafang hub units.
Before giving up on that bike, see if a local e-bike repair shop can measure the gear properly. They often have calipers and experience cross-matching parts even if you can’t tell if it’s 30 or 31 teeth. Way easier than guessing online.
I know it feels like a shame to toss a good frame over one worn gear. There are some small European shops that specialize in nylon gear replacements — GreenBikeKit and PSWpower are two that sometimes stock obscure ones. Shipping can take a while though.
Since your distributor wasn’t helpful, I’d suggest posting the exact gear measurements (diameter, thickness, tooth count) along with photos on an e-bike forum like Endless-Sphere. Someone there might recognize the exact gear and point you to a supplier.
