Hello. I bought a Lectric XP 2.0 last year. I was very careful when purchasing but I didnt fully consider its weight. Im thinking of selling it and buying another bike that better suits my needs. Whats the best way to sell it Do bike shops typically buy and resell e-bikes Do I have no choice but to use online marketplaces If you have any advice please let me know. Thank you.
Yes Facebook Marketplace and Offerup are the best.
Theres an electric bike shop in town thats accepting trades but other than that I dont think any regular bike shops are involved. There are local groups for buying and selling on Facebook Marketplace. Craigslist still works well in some areas. Both may seem interesting or they may be rare or they may come and go at a lower price. Bring your bike to a nice location and take some attractive photos from all angles. It might even be worthwhile to pay a friend with a camera to take some good shots.
Wherever you list your bike if the price is reasonable expect to be flooded with calls. Last year one sold within 15 minutes thanks to a win-win situation. Some contacted me threatening to sell it to someone else. Some were downright furious. One even made a profit after riding it for a year. Its hard to imagine such foolish people fighting over a used bike thats worth more than a new one.
Bike shops never buy used electric bikes especially not from brands they dont normally carry. Buy them at the selling price and move on to the next shop. Unless you live in a warm climate year-round February is the worst month to sell bikes. April is a good time to buy.
Electric bikes have become increasingly popular on OfferUp recently. I think its probably the easiest way to sell them.
Try a website called pinkbike. It has a dedicated bike sales page:
Its a good idea to advertise it on Craigslist. Unless its in good condition and youre willing to trade it for something else stores are unlikely to match your purchase price. Some stores prioritize customer satisfaction so the store you purchased it from may be willing to trade it in.
I have a bike for sale for $600. It needs a new inner tube for my Veziol M2 Pro.
Did you end up selling it Im in the same situation laughs. Its so heavy its completely unsuitable for transporting. I need a scooter laughs.
Offer up didnt work Facebook Marketplace didnt work I sold my ebike on Craigslist to a guy who lived a few miles away and got a better result.
There are also several Facebook groups dedicated to Lectric where you can participate in trading.
I think Craigslist is ideal for locals.
Are you in USA What store is it
In 202021 sales of used bicycles were unusually high despite there being no new bike inventory at all.
LOL. Im sitting here with a Lectric XP 2.0 with 190 miles of range for $300 a month but no one wants it.
I bought a used electric bike from a store. It was a specialty store for electric bikes but it wasnt a brand that carried new models. So while its certainly possible its unlikely to be available at a regular store that doesnt carry electric bikes.
Its also a good idea to display a for sale sign and ride in a popular location. It might be a little cheaper but anyone who sees it will be more likely to buy it especially if you make it available for riding. Flea markets and craft shows are recommended.
No there have been many discussions but no one has made any progress. Its difficult to sell because the used price is high.
Hey this thread is two years old. Things change.
