Help Finding Saddle-Rail Clamp or Airfoil Seatpost for BMC SL01

Hello,

Saddle rail mount clamp of BMC road racer SL01 has broken. Finding that part or alternative airfoil seat post is really hard.

please help me.

Thank you.

I texted Stefan Turner of Now Bikes ((651) 644-2354) in St. Paul, Minnesota, saying there might be an airfoil post. Call him. This is today, November 9, 2021. I’m looking for the seat post of the BMC road racer made in 2011. BMC did not make this part anymore, so he could not procure it. Good luck.

That clamp is notoriously hard to source. I’d start by contacting a BMC dealer directly — sometimes they still have small spares tucked away even if it’s an older model.

I ran into the same issue with my SL01 a couple years back. Ended up finding a replacement clamp through eBay from a seller in Europe. Worth setting up an alert there.

If you can’t find the original clamp, a good machinist or local bike shop with CNC contacts might be able to fabricate one. It’s not the cheapest route, but it keeps the frame rideable.

You might want to look at 3D-printed solutions. There are a couple of companies now making custom saddle clamps for older aero posts — not OEM, but they work if you’re careful.

Another workaround is switching to a round seatpost conversion shim, if you can find one that fits the SL01. That way you can use a standard post and clamp instead of hunting down the rare BMC piece.
